USF Women’s Soccer Faces Rice to Finish Weekend in Texas

HOUSTON (October 11, 2025) – The University of South Florida women's soccer team plays its second match in Texas this weekend, facing the Rice Owls on Sunday night in Houston. South Florida (6-6-1, 2-2-1 American) and Rice (8-2-3, 2-1-3 American) are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
 
In its first game of the Texas road trip, the Bulls fell to the UTSA Roadrunners 2-1 in San Antonio. The Bulls will look to get a different result against the Owls in Houston.
 
In the match against UTSA, Selma Åström had her first career goal in her second-ever collegiate game, and Keito Ido received her second assist of the season.

Setting the Stage
The Bulls are coming off a loss after a ten-day break. The Owls tied their last match, 1-1, against Charlotte. Both teams will be seeking their third conference win.

South Florida has never lost to Rice, with an all-time record of 2-0-1. The Bulls beat the Owls 2-1 at home in Corbett last year and tied 1-1 in 2023 when they last played in Houston.

Brown spent 17 years as associate head coach (2007–2023), helping USF to three American Athletic Conference titles, eight NCAA appearances, and a 10-year streak of 10+ win seasons. He coached USF's first All-American, Evelyne Viens, now a Hall of Famer and Olympic gold medalist, and has developed multiple American Athletic Conference award winners. Players under his guidance hold most of the program's records.
