Bulls Wrap Up Competition Against Deep Field at Crimson Classic

TAMPA, Fla., October 17, 2025 — The University of South Florida cross country team continued its fall campaign on Friday, turning in a series of competitive performances at the Crimson Classic hosted by the University of Alabama at Harry Pritchett Running Park.

The meet featured a deep field that included Auburn, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Tulane, Arkansas Little Rock, Belmont, Central Arkansas, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, North Alabama, Oakland University, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Southern Utah, Tennessee Chattanooga, Troy, UAB, ULM, and Miami (Fla.).

In the men's 8K race, Karim Belmahdi led the Bulls with a time of 26:01.4, followed closely by Clayton Knight at 26:18.6. Cole Stevens (26:35.4), Stephen Barber (26:39.4), and Tanner Andrade-Brinsko (26:41.8) rounded out a tight group for South Florida, with all five Bulls finishing within 40 seconds of one another.

On the women's side, Hailey Cohen continued her race, pacing South Florida with a time of 21:24.4 in the 6K race. Caroline Irvin (22:25.0), Marlo Hibler (22:34.3), Ava Heskett (22:44.7), and Shannon Fischer (23:57.1) completed the Bulls' lineup.

"This meet gave our group another chance to test themselves against some outstanding competition," said Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Erik Jenkins. "Our athletes continue to show great composure and teamwork, which will be key as we move ahead."

The Bulls now turn their focus toward postseason preparations as they get set for the American Conference Championships on November 1.

About USF Cross Country
The USF Cross Country team has earned 2 All-America selections, Christina Benton in 2002 and Gray Mavhera in 1994. The Bulls have advanced to the NCAA Cross Country Championships seven times in program history, three times for the men and four times for the women. The USF men's teams have won seven team conference championships, and the women have won five team championships. Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2019. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 and 2023 American Conference Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium, as well as the 2022 American Country Cross Country Championship at Holloway Park.
