South Florida Hosts FGCU for Midweek Doubleheader

TAMPA, Fla., February 11, 2025 – The University of South Florida softball team (3-2) welcomes the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles (3-3) to the USF Softball Stadium for a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday. The games are set for 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
South Florida opened the season with the annual USF-Rawlings Invitational, welcoming Delaware, Illinois State, Georgia Southern, Michigan, and Florida. The Bulls came out of the weekend with three wins.
 
Josie Foreman and Olivia Elliott led the Bulls with six hits this weekend. Each had a double, while Foreman finished with three RBI. Foreman leads the conference and is sixth in the nation in on-base percentage.
 
Jamia Nelson and Karhys Pierce hit the first two home runs of the 2025 season for the Bulls. Both came against Georgia Southern, Nelson's in the fourth and Pierce's in the sixth.
 
Payton Dixon earned a pair of wins while striking out eight batters in 15.2 innings. Dixon pitched her 20th complete game against Illinois State. Belle Sardja earned one win and a save. She struck out seven batters. Anne Long made her first collegiate start against Michigan, pitching 4.1 innings and striking out four.
 
As a team, South Florida leads the conference in double plays per game, averaging one per game.
