TAMPA, Fla., February 17, 2025 – After leading South Florida to a 7-0 record last week, sophomore infielder
Alex Wilkes was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, while
Payton Dixon earned a spot on the honor roll, the league office announced on Monday.
Wilkes finished the week with a team-leading 10 hits and 11 RBI. She matched a program-high of seven RBI in the Bulls' 12-4 win over FGCU on Wednesday. The last player to do so was Stephanie Medina on April 16, 2011, against Seton Hall. Her four hits were the first time a Bull had four hits in a game since 2021, when Bethany Keen had four against New Mexico State.
Dixon earned three wins last week, pitching two complete-game shutouts and earning one save. She recorded a team-high 16 strikeouts, while only giving up four walks. Dixon held her opponents to a .152 average and finished with a 1.47 ERA.
