TAMPA, February 27, 2025 – The University of South Florida softball team (13-4) will head on the road for the first time in the 2025 season as they head to Austin, Texas, for the Longhorn Invitational, hosted by No. 1 Texas this Friday through Sunday. The Bulls will face the top-ranked Longhorns twice while also playing New Mexico State, Abilene Christian, and Alabama A&M.       Â

Setting The Stage:
USF is currently on a three-game win streak, defeating Louisville, Kent State, and Troy. In the last five games, the Bulls have hit at least one home run, with two coming against Wisconsin and Louisville.

Series History:
South Florida leads the all-time series against New Mexico State with a 9-4 record. This will be the first meeting between Abilene Christian and Alabama A&M. No. 1 Texas leads the all-time series, 6-1. The only loss the Longhorns have faced against the Bulls was on March 17, 2023, when then-first-year
Kathy Garcia-Soto hit a walk-off home run.Â

Note-A-Bull:
Through the first 17 games of the year, the Bulls have hit 14 home runs. In the last five games, the Bulls have hit at least one home run. In 2024, South Florida finished the 2024 season with 19 home runs.

Josie Foreman and
Camille Ortiz-Martinez lead the team with three home runs. Foreman is currently on a three-game home run streak.

Through the first three weeks of the season, South Florida is leading the conference in six statistical categories: double plays (11), double plays per game (0.65), hit by pitch (15), on-base percentage (0.436), RBI (105), and walks (63).

Kathy Garcia-Soto leads the conference in assists (44), assists per game (2.59), and hit by pitch (4).

The South Florida softball program has been one of the most successful on campus, making 17 NCAA tournament appearances, including a trip to the Women's College World Series in 2012. Under head coach Ken Eriksen, who enters his 28th season in 2025 and has accumulated 1,117 wins, ranking seventh among active DI head softball coaches, USF has produced 10 NFCA All-Americans, two USA Softball Top 10 Player of the Year, and one NFCA Pitcher of the Year. In 2022, Georgina Corrick became the first player in softball history to earn the NCAA Pitching Triple Crown. She led the nation in ERA (0.51), Victories (37), and total strikeouts (418).
