Tampa, Fla. – Feb. 7, 2025 – South Florida women's basketball (15-8, 8-2 AAC) heads to Philadelphia, Pa., for its second meeting of the year with Temple (13-9, 7-4 AAC) on Saturday, Feb. 8. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. and the action will stream on ESPN+.
 
SETTING THE STAGE
The Bulls are on the hunt for their fifth straight win and second victory of February. The Owls are victors of one of their last four contests.
 
THE SOUTH FLORIDA-TEMPLE SERIES
Saturday is the 23rd meeting between the two squads. USF holds a 18-4 all-time advantage against Temple. The last clash was a 65-56 win for the Bulls in Tampa, Fla. (Jan. 4, 2025).
 
BEST OF THE BULLS
The Bulls are led by graduate guard Sammie Puisis (14.4 ppg.) and sophomore guard Vittoria Blasigh (10.3 ppg.) Puisis is ranked 6th in the nation with 67 total 3-pointers made and 12th in 3FG Made Per Game (2.9 3FGM). Junior forward Carla Brito holds a team-best 7.5 rebound average. (7th in the American). Senior forward L'or Mputu has a 7.4 rebound average (8th in the American). The Duo is tied for 1st (North Texas) the AAC with a combined 14.9 Rebound Average. Graduate guard Mama Dembele is USF's top assister with 5.1 apg. (117 total assists ranked 27th nationally). In the latest NCAA Nitty Gritties Report, South Florida is ranked 63 NET SOS, 67 in the NET, and 6 in NET Nonconference Schedule.
 
ADDITIONAL NOTES
South Florida has started 8-2 or better for the seventh time since joining the AAC in 2013-14. That is tied for the most such starts in the conference's history, along with UConn. L'or Mputu shot 66.7 percent from the field and grabbed 67 rebounds in January 2025. The only other USF player this century to have at least a 65.0 field-goal percentage and 65 rebounds in a single calendar month was Tamara Henshaw in February 2017 (70.0, 71). The Bulls are shooting 35.2 percent from beyond the arc this season after shooting at a 30.3 percent clip in 2023-24. The 4.9-point improvement is the largest in the AAC and the 30th largest in Division I. Mama Dembele has recorded at least three assists and a steal in seven straight conference games. The last USF player with a longer streak in conference play was Andrea Gilmore from January-March 2005 (11 straight). USF has held its opponents to less than 70 points and below 50.0% shooting from the field in 23 straight home games. That is tied for the fifth-longest active streak in Division I and more than double the next longest active streak in the AAC (East Carolina – 11).
