USF Softball Travels to Charlotte for First Conference Road Series

The Bulls and 49ers meet for the seventh time in Charlotte

March 13, 2025

TAMPA, March 13, 2025 – The University of South Florida softball team (21-8, 2-1 AAC) will go on the road for the second time this season as they head to Charlotte, N.C., for a three-game conference series against the 49ers (14-12, 2-1 AAC) this Friday and Saturday.

The Bulls and 49ers were initially slated for a Friday through Sunday series, but potential inclement weather on Sunday resulted in a doubleheader on Saturday. Friday's first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m., while Saturday's first game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.

Setting The Stage:
USF is currently on a four-game winning streak. It took the last two games against UAB last weekend and defeated Bryant and Central Michigan on Tuesday.

Series History:
South Florida leads the all-time series 32-3. Last season, Charlotte took the series, 2-1,  in Tampa.

Note-A-Bull:
Alex Wilkes's walk-off home run against Central Michigan on Tuesday was the first since Kathy Garcia-Soto walked off No. 11/9 Texas in 2023. Wilkes is now one home run behind Josie Foreman, who leads the team with six.

Foreman's six home runs this season make her career total 17, just two away from entering the top 10 in program history. Carmela Liwag (2002-05) rounds out the top 10 with 19 career home runs.

Alanah Rivera is eight doubles away from moving into the top 10 in career doubles. So far, she has 29. Kourtney Salvarola (2011-14) rounds out the top 10 with 37 in her career.

Additional Notes:
The Bulls have turned 16 double plays as a team. They lead the American Athletic Conference and rank seventh in the nation.

Kathy Garcia-Soto's 69 assists lead the conference and rank third in the nation. She is four behind Ella Christopher from Gardner-Webb, who leads the nation. In the conference, the next closest is North Texas's Riley McNemar with 57.

Payton Dixon threw her seventh complete game in the eight-inning win over Central Michigan. It's her 26th complete game of her career. She finished with seven strikeouts, her second-highest of the season.
