TAMPA, Fla., March 18, 2025 – The University of South Florida softball team makes the short trip to DeLand for a doubleheader against in-state foe Stetson on Wednesday, March 19, on Patricia Wilson Field. Game one between the Bulls (24-8, 5-1 AAC) and the Hatters (16-14, 0-3 ASUN) is scheduled for 3 p.m., with game two slated for 5:30 p.m.
The Bulls swept the American Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week honors earlier this week. Junior
Camille Ortiz-Martinez was tabbed the AAC Player of the Week, while redshirt junior
Payton Dixon earned the honor of the AAC Pitcher of the Week.
Setting The Stage:
South Florida comes into Wednesday's game on a seven-game winning streak. The Bulls are 3-2 on the road this season. Stetson enters Wednesday on a five-game losing streak. The Hatters are 14-10 at home this year.
Series History:
South Florida and Stetson will meet for the 58th time on Wednesday. The Bulls lead the series 50-7. USF has won the last seven meetings, including a doubleheader sweep (4-0, 7-2) on February 28, 2024, in Tampa. South Florida is 16-4 against the Hatters in DeLand.
Note-A-Bull:
Josie Foreman and
Alex Wilkes are tied for the team lead with six home runs this season. Foreman's and Wilkes's six home runs this season are three away from moving into the single-season top 10.
Foreman has 17 home runs in her career, just two away from tying Carmela Liwag (2002-05) for 10th in program history.
Alanah Rivera is closing in on the top 10 for career doubles. She has 30 doubles in her career, seven away from tying Kourtney Salvarola (2011-14) for 10th in program history.
Olivia Elliott is the toughest player to strike out in the conference with 32.3 and is 41st in the country. Her 32 runs scored is second in the conference and is tied for 24th in the NCAA.

South Florida is leading the conference in 12 statistical categories: batting average (.324), double plays (18), doubles (55), hit-by-pitch (28), on-base percentage (0.416), RBIs per game (5.78), RBIs (185), slugging percentage (.519), total runs (195), total sacrifice bunts (31), total sacrifice flies (12), and walks (107).
The 31 sac bunts are third in the NCAA. With 55 doubles, USF is tied for fourth in the nation. The Bulls are tied for sixth in the country with 18 double plays.
Kathy Garcia-Soto leads the conference in assists with 75. Her 75 assists are tied for fifth in the nation.
Payton Dixon leads the conference in four statistical categories: complete games (8), innings pitched (101.0), pitching appearances (23), and shutouts (3). Her 101 innings pitched are the sixth most in the NCAA.
