TAMPA, Fla., March 20, 2025 – The University of South Florida softball team enters the weekend on a nine-game winning streak and welcomes East Carolina to the USF Softball Stadium for a three-game series. The Bulls (26-8, 5-1) and the Pirates (17-10, 4-2) will begin the series on Friday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+. All three games will air on ESPN+, and Saturday's game will also be available on Bulls Unlimited.
Fans, be sure to arrive early on Saturday for your chance to get a USF softball tank top. After Sunday's game, fans can stick around for autographs with select players. Sunday is also Bark in the Park.
Setting The Stage:
South Florida comes into the weekend on a nine-game winning streak. USF is 18-6 at home this season. The Pirates are coming off a 14-10 win against North Carolina Central on Tuesday. ECU is 3-3 on the road. USF is one game out of first place in the AAC, while ECU is two games back.
Series History:
The Bulls and Pirates will meet for the 51st time on Friday. USF leads the series 36-14. South Florida has won nine of the last 11 meetings. ECU won the previous meeting 8-1 in Greenville, N.C., on April 20, 2024. South Florida is 20-6 at home against East Carolina.
Note-A-Bull:
Alex Wilkes leads the team with seven home runs. Her seven home runs this season are two away from moving into the single-season top 10.
Josie Foreman is second on the team with six home runs this season and has 17 home runs in her career. She is two away from tying Carmela Liwag (2002-05) for 10th in program history for career home runs.
Alanah Rivera is tied for 28th in the NCAA and is second in the conference with 10 doubles. She has 31 doubles in her career, six away from tying Kourtney Salvarola (2011-14) for 10th in program history.
Olivia Elliott is the toughest player to strike out in the conference with 26.0 and is 58th in the country. Her 35 runs scored is second in the conference and is tied for 14th in the NCAA.
Additional Notes:
South Florida is tied for first in the NCAA with 60 doubles. The Bulls are tied for third in the nation with 34 sac bunts. South Florida is tied for eighth in the NCAA with 279 hits. Defensively, USF is tied for fourth in the country with 19 double plays.
The Bulls are also leading the conference in 13 addition statistical categories: batting average (.329), doubles per game (1.76), hit-by-pitch (30), on-base percentage (0.419), RBIs per game (5.88), RBIs (200), scoring (6.24), shutouts (5), slugging percentage (.534), total runs (212), total sacrifice flies (14), triples (12), and walks (112).
Kathy Garcia-Soto is third in the NCAA and leads the AAC with 79 assists. She has the most assists in the country at second base.
Payton Dixon is second in the nation with 107.0 innings pitched. Her 24 appearances are tied for second in the country. She also leads the AAC in complete games with eight and shutouts with three.
