USF Softball Defeats Blazers on A Walk-Off to Even the Series

TAMPA, March 8, 2025 – The University of South Florida softball team (18-8, 1-1 AAC) walked off the UAB Blazers (10-12, 1-1 AAC) in the ninth inning to even the series on Saturday night at the USF Softball Stadium.
 
The Bulls evened the series on a walk-off challenge win in the bottom of the ninth inning. DaNia Brooks and Kathy Garcia-Soto started the inning with back-to-back singles. Olivia Elliott advanced the runners into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. Alexa Galligani's fielder's choice brought Brooks home, but Brooks was initially called out.
 
Elliott started the game with a stand-up double to right field and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Galligani. Josie Foreman got on base with a catcher's interference. A double steal from Foreman and Elliott gave the Bulls the 1-0 lead.
 
The Bulls scored again in the third inning with a solo home run from Foreman. It was her fifth of the season and the second in the last two games. With the home run, the Bulls have tied the previous season's total of 19.
 
Belle Sardja held the Blazers hitless through 4.2 innings. UAB had back-to-back hits, with the second being a two-run home run to tie the game.
 
South Florida regained the lead in the fifth inning with an RBI single from Camille Ortiz-Martinez. Foreman led the inning with a single and had Grace Chin come in as a pinch runner. Chin advanced on the sacrifice bunt from Alanah Rivera.
 
A pair of errors from the Bull in the sixth inning allowed the Blazers to tie the game at three.
 
Payton Dixon pitched five hitless innings. She earned her eighth victory of the season.
