Payton Dixon Pitches Complete Game Shutout Over UAB to Claim Series

Josie Foreman hits third home run in three games

TAMPA, March 9, 2025 – The University of South Florida softball team (19-8, 2-1 AAC) shut out the UAB Blazers (10-13, 1-2 AAC) on Sunday afternoon to claim the series. This is the fourth shutout win for the Bulls this season.
 
South Florida took the lead in the first inning, scoring three runs. After a hit-by-pitch and a walk, Josie Foreman hit a stand-up double down the left-field line for her third RBI of the series. Alanah Rivera followed with another stand-up double to bring two more runs across the plate.
 
The next run wouldn't come until the fifth inning when South Florida added three more. Kathy Garcia-Soto started the inning with a single, followed by a walk from Olivia Elliott. A deep sacrifice fly from Alex Wilkes brought both runs across the plate. Foreman knocked her third home run of the series to give the Bulls the six-run lead.
 
Payton Dixon earned her 12th start this season. She pitched her sixth complete game and her third shutout. Dixon held the Blazers to just three hits while also striking out three.

South Florida will welcome Bryant and Central Michigan on Tuesday for a midweek doubleheader. The Bulls and Bulldogs will play at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Bulls and Chippewas at 7 p.m. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
