Carlos Jacome led the University of South Florida baseball team (23-16; 11-5 American) in a 4-1 win over the Wichita State Shockers (12-29; 4-12 American) on Friday night at Eck Stadium. With the win, the Bulls match their conference win total from last season.

South Florida still holds second place in the AAC standings. The Bulls are two games behind the UTSA Roadrunners (13-3), who defeated Memphis (4-12), and have a one-game lead on Charlotte (10-6), who beat Florida Atlantic (9-7). South Florida holds a two-game lead on East Carolina (9-7), who lost to Tulane (9-7).

The Bulls jumped out early, scoring two runs in both the second and third innings to grab a 4–1 lead that would hold for the rest of the contest.
Carlos Jacome was a standout at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, and two RBIs.
Ryan Pruitt also contributed with an RBI single in the third to help extend the lead.

On the mound,
Corey Braun improved to 6–2 on the season after tossing 5.1 innings, allowing just one run on eight hits with four strikeouts.
Brandon Keyster and
Landen Yorek combined to close the door, with Yorek earning his fifth save of the year after a two-inning, three-strikeout performance.

Despite being outhit 12–9, the Bulls took advantage of opportunities and played clean defense with no errors while turning a key double play to stall a Shockers rally.

- Jacome recorded his 10th multi-hit game. He has three multi-hit performances in his last four games.
- Jacome was a home run away from the cycle.
- For the second straight game, every Bull who stepped up to the plate reached base at least once.
- Landen Yorek earned his fifth save of the season. He has half of the pitching staff's total saves.

- Jackson Mayo is one home run away from breaking into the top 10 career home run list in program history. He has hit 28 home runs in his career.

- Sebastian Greico recorded his 10th multi-hit performance.
