DENTON, Texas, April 26, 2025 – The University of South Florida softball team returned to the diamond for game two of the three-game series with North Texas on Saturday inside Lovelace Stadium.
Alexa Galligani recorded a hit and extended her streak of reaching base safely to 17 games, but the Bulls (37-14-1, 16-6-1) fell to the Mean Green (35-15, 17-7) 5-1.
South Florida remains a half game ahead of North Texas in the American Athletic Conference standings. Galligani,
Olivia Elliott,
Karhys Pierce, and
Kathy Garcia-Soto all recorded a hit for the Bulls. Galligani has been consistent and has reached base safely in 17 games. Elliott extended her hitting streak to 11 games.
Alanah Rivera has reached base safely in 11 games.
Belle Sardja got the start in the circle for USF. She went 4.2 innings and struck out three batters. She allowed one earned run and scattered five hits.
Anne Long picked up the loss in 1.1 innings of relief and recorded one strikeout. She fell to 4-4 on the season. She surrendered four earned runs on five hits.
The Mean Green got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the third inning as they produced one run on three hits. UNT held a 1-0 lead after three innings.
Josie Foreman led off the top of the sixth inning with a five-pitch walk.
Sam Walz pinch ran for Foreman at first. Rivera followed with a five-pitch walk.
Grace Chin pinch ran for Rivera.
Jamia Nelson reached on a fielder's choice to the shortstop as Walz was out at third. Pierce reached on a fielder's choice, and a throwing error by the second baseman allowed Chin to score. USF tied the game at 1-1.
North Texas scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on five hits and one South Florida error. The Mean Green kept the Bulls off the scoreboard in the top of the seventh and won the game 5-1.

South Florida and North Texas will play the rubber match on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN+. The winner will have control of second place in the standings.
