USF Softball Welcomes UTSA for the Final Regular Season Series

The Bulls will honor four seniors for Senior Day on Saturday

TAMPA, Fla., May 1, 2025 – The University of South Florida softball team will play its final series of the 2025 regular season against UTSA beginning on Friday, May 2. The Bulls (38-14-1, 17-6-1) and the Roadrunners (21-30, 6-18) will conclude the 2025 season inside the USF Softball Stadium. All three games will be on ESPN+ and Bulls Unlimited.
 
South Florida is second in the American Athletic Conference, 2.5 games behind Florida Atlantic. The Bulls are 1.5 games ahead of the North Texas Mean Green. USF needs a sweep against UTSA and a Tulsa sweep against Florida Atlantic to win the AAC regular season title. With two wins against UTSA, the Bulls can secure the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.
 
Earlier this week, Josie Foreman earned a spot on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll and was one of Softball America's Stars of the Week. Before Saturday's game, South Florida will honor its four seniors for Senior Day.
 
Setting The Stage:
South Florida is coming off a 2-1 series win against North Texas and has won eight of the last nine AAC games. The Bulls are 26-7 overall at home and are 10-2 inside the USF Softball Stadium in AAC contests. UTSA enters the weekend off a 2-1 series victory against Tulsa. The Roadrunners are 3-14 on the road this season.
 
Series History:
USF and UTSA will meet for the fourth time on Friday. The Bulls hold a 2-1 series advantage after South Florida won two games in San Antonio last season. It will be the first meeting in Tampa.
 
Note-A-Bull:
Belle Sardja has nine saves on the season and is tied for first in the NCAA and first in the AAC. Her nine are the most in a season in program history. Her 15 career saves are the third most in program history.
 
Payton Dixon is tied for 13th in the nation with 166.0 innings pitched. Her 39 appearances are tied for ninth in the country.
 
Kathy Garcia-Soto is tied for 11th in the NCAA and leads the AAC with 121 assists. She has the third-most assists in the country at second base. She is one of five players in the country to have at least 100 assists and 100 putouts.
 
Additional Notes:
South Florida is tied for 16th in the NCAA with 83 doubles. The Bulls are eighth in the nation with 49 sacrifice bunts. South Florida is tied for 27th in the NCAA with 431 hits. Defensively, USF is tied for 10th in the country with 27 double plays.
 
The Bulls lead the conference in two additional statistical categories: hit-by-pitch (57) and two sac flies (24).
 
USF has hit 47 home runs as a team this season. The Bulls are two home runs shy of tying the program record set in 2016.
 
Camille Ortiz-Martinez leads the team with 10 home runs. She has 16 home runs for her career and is three away from cracking the top 10.
 
Josie Foreman is tied for second on the team with nine home runs this season and has 20 home runs in her career. She is tied for ninth in program history for career home runs.
 
Alex Wilkes is tied second on the squad with nine home runs.
 
Alanah Rivera has 10 doubles this season. She has 31 doubles in her career, six away from tying Kourtney Salvarola (2011-14) for 10th in program history.
