TALLAHASSEE, Fla., May 17, 2025 – The University of South Florida softball team fell to No. 5 Florida State in the winner's bracket of the Tallahassee Regional on Saturday. The Bulls (44-15-1) were knocked off by the Seminoles (47-9) 8-0, in six innings.
Anne Long got the start in the circle for the Bulls and went 5.0 innings in the loss. She fell to 7-5 on the season. She struck out two batters. She surrendered five earned runs on six hits.
McKenna Schroding allowed three earned runs and faced three batters in the sixth inning.
Hannah Marien tossed a scoreless inning in relief.
Camille Ortiz-Martinez has reached base safely in 16 straight games after being hit by a pitch.
Olivia Elliott and
Alex Wilkes each had a hit for the Bulls. Wilkes extended her hitting streak to seven games.
The Seminoles got on the scoreboard first with a two-run home run by Amaya Ross in the top of the second inning. Florida State added two runs on three hits in the top of the third inning and took a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the third inning. FSU extended its lead to 5-0 in the top of the fifth. The Seminoles extended their lead to 8-0 in the top of the sixth inning.

The Bulls will play again today in an elimination game for a chance to play in tomorrow's regional championship. South Florida awaits the winner of the Auburn and Robert Morris contest. The game this evening is scheduled for 6 p.m. on ESPN+ and Bulls Unlimited.
