USF Baseball Wraps Up Conference Road Stand With Florida Atlantic

The Bulls and Owls are in a three-way tie for second place.

TAMPA, May 8, 2025 – The University of South Florida baseball team (25-21, 12-9 American) will close out its 2025 regular season road schedule with a three-game series against the Florida Atlantic Owls (32-16, 12-9 American) this Friday through Sunday at the FAU Baseball Stadium in Boca Raton. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
South Florida is tied for second place with Florida Atlantic and Charlotte. They have a one-game lead on Tulane and East Carolina and are six games behind UTSA, who clinched at least a share of the regular season title.
 
Setting The Stage:
South Florida snapped its four-game losing streak with a dominant 7-1 win against the Florida Gators on Tuesday in Gainesville. The Bulls racked up 13 hits overall, including key RBI contributions from Ryan Pruitt, Carlos Jacome, and Sebastian Greico. Marcus Brodil and Matt Rose each delivered extra-base hits, with Brodil also driving in two runs.
 
LHP Brandon Keyster earned his first win of the season, pitching 1.2 innings. RHP Adan Longoria earned his first save of the season. He pitched 3.1 perfect innings, not allowing a hit or walk.
 
Series History:
The Bulls and Owls have met 23 times, with South Florida leading the all-time series 16-7. In Boca Raton, South Florida leads the series 6-2. Last season, FAU took the series in Tampa, 2-1.
 
Note-A-Bull:
  • 1B Sebastian Greico has hit 14 home runs this season, leading the American Conference. He has a team-leading 45 RBI.
  • OF Marcus Brodil has a team-leading .338 average. He has 54 hits, which ranks second on the team, one behind Ryan Pruitt, who has 54.
  • OF Ryan Pruitt has stolen 19 bases this season. He leads the team and is currently tied for second in the conference.  
  • OF Jackson Mayo hit his 29th career home run on Sunday. He is now tied for ninth in the program records.  
  • RHP Jack Nedrow has allowed the fewest number of walks in the conference this season with nine.

Mitch Hannahs was named South Florida's eighth head coach in program history on June 8, 2024, after compiling 355 wins over 11 seasons at Indiana State. The 2023 ABCA NCAA DI Midwest Region Coach of the Year guided the Sycamores to six conference titles and five NCAA Regionals, guiding ISU to a spot in the 2023 NCAA Super Regional. He takes over a USF team that went 26-29 last year and features 24 new players.

The Bulls have made 14 NCAA Tournament appearances and earned their first-ever Super Regional berth in 2021. Bulls baseball players have been recognized with All-America honors 12 times, and 19 Bulls have earned Freshman All-America accolades.
