TAMPA, Fla., August 27, 2025 – The University of South Florida men's soccer team will make its home debut this Thursday, though not in their usual venue of Corbett Stadium. The Bulls welcome UNC Greensboro to St. Petersburg's iconic Al Lang Stadium, and the kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 28.
Setting the Stage
The Bulls (1-0-1) are coming off an impressive 4-1 victory at Lipscomb on Sunday, marking their first win of the season. South Florida looks to keep the momentum rolling in front of its home supporters.
The Opponent
UNC Greensboro (2-0-0), ranked No. 23 in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll and No. 38 in the NCAA RPI, provides a strong early-season test. The Spartans have opened their campaign with back-to-back wins and bring a balanced lineup to St. Petersburg.
Note-A-Bulls:
- Offensive Spark – The Bulls' four-goal outing at Lipscomb was their highest road total since 2022.
- Weekly Accolades – Freshman defender Nicolas Pietrantonio was named both Defensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week by the American after his two goals at Lipscomb. He was also named to TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week.
- Captains Lead the Way – Senior midfielder Diego Faife, a Preseason All-AAC First Team selection, and junior defender Tyler Richardson anchor the Bulls' leadership core.
Series History
Thursday marks the third meeting between the two programs, with the previous two meetings held in Tampa, Fla.. The Spartans won 4-3 in their first-ever match back on Sept. 13, 2002. The teams drew (1-1) in their last match up (Nov. 29, 2008), but USF advanced 3-1 on Penalty kicks after two overtimes, in the third round of the NCAA tournament.

ABOUT USF MEN'S SOCCER
USF Men's Soccer competed in the school's first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3. Since then, the oldest program on campus has built a winning tradition, claiming 14 conference championships and making 22 NCAA Tournament appearances, including three trips to the Elite Eight.
