USF WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TO OPEN BAHA MAR HOOPS PINK FLAMINGO CHAMPIONSHIP VS. MINNESOTA

September 12, 2025

TAMPA, Fla., September 12, 2025  The Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship matchups are set for late November, featuring two four-team brackets. Games will be played on Monday, Nov. 24, and Wednesday, Nov. 26, at the Baha Mar Convention, Arts & Entertainment Center.

South Florida will compete in the Junkanoo Division of the eight-team tournament, which is divided into two separate four-team brackets. The Junkanoo Division also includes Minnesota, Alabama, and Harvard.

The Bulls will open play against Minnesota on Monday, Nov. 24, at 4 p.m. ET, with each bracket set to crown its own champion.

Following first-round play, the Bulls will face either Alabama or Harvard in the consolation or championship game on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at either 4 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. ET. The specific order of those contests will be determined after the opening round. Streaming information will be announced at a later date.

Minnesota enters the Pink Flamingo Championship fresh off its most successful campaign in nearly two decades. The Gophers captured the 2025 Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT) title, a postseason event that replaced the WNIT beginning with the 2024-25 season. Minnesota earned a No. 2 seed in the WBIT, advanced to the Final Four, and went on to claim the championship, finishing with 25 wins – the program's first 25-win season since 2004-05.

Other than South Florida, the final field of teams includes Alabama, Belmont, Harvard, McNeese, Minnesota, Ohio State, and West Virginia. Seven of the eight teams advanced to postseason play last season.

USF enters the 2025-26 season after capturing its fourth American Conference championship with a 23-11 overall record, winning the American Postseason Tournament, and making its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Jose Fernandez. Fernandez, who enters his 26th season at the helm, led the Bulls to a No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament last year, marking the program's 14th consecutive 19-win season and 12th 20-win season under his leadership.
