USF Women’s Soccer Faces East Carolina in Conference Match Thursday

TAMPA, Fla. (September 17, 2025) – The University of South Florida women's soccer team returns to Corbett Stadium on Thursday for their second conference match of the season. South Florida (5-4, 1-0 American) and East Carolina (3-3-2, 1-0 American) are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
 
Before Thursday's match, fans can get free thundersticks upon entry while supplies last.
 
Earlier this week, Hedda Ornberg was the American Conference Offensive Player of the Week as she scored two goals in the previous match on Sunday against Grambling State. Sadie Sider-Echenberg earned a spot on the honorable mention list.

Setting the Stage
The Bulls enter Thursday on a four-match winning streak, scoring three or more goals in three games in a row. In their last match, the Pirates beat Tulsa 2-0.
 
Note-A-Bulls:
  • South Florida has scored a goal in 14 of the last 17 matches.
  • Hedda Ornberg paces the squad with twelve points, five goals and two assists.
  • Gentiana Fetaj leads the team with four assists and is second on the team with eight points.  
  • Sadie Sider-Echenberg is second on the team with three goals.
 
Series History
South Florida dominates the series with an all-time record of 13-3-2, and is 7-1-1 at home against East Carolina.

Chris Brown enters his second season as USF head coach after a record-setting debut in 2024, leading the Bulls to 12 wins and coaching both the American Athletic Conference Midfielder of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year. Brown spent 17 years as associate head coach (2007–2023), helping USF to three American Athletic Conference titles, eight NCAA appearances, and a 10-year streak of 10+ win seasons. He coached USF's first All-American, Evelyne Viens, now a Hall of Famer and Olympic gold medalist, and has developed multiple American Athletic Conference award winners. Players under his guidance hold most of the program's records.
