TULSA, Okla., January 10, 2025 – The University of South Florida men's basketball team defeated Tulsa, 93–78, on Saturday night, handing the Golden Hurricane its first home loss of the season and marking the fourth-highest NET-ranked opponent defeated in program history. The Bulls now have two Quad-1 wins this season, becoming the first team to achieve this mark since the 2023-24 Bulls.
Wes Enis delivered a standout shooting performance, finishing with 32 points and tying his own program record with 10 made three-pointers, a mark he previously set earlier this season against UAB. As a team, the Bulls knocked down the second-most threes in program history (16), only two back from the record. They also attempted a program record 42 three-pointers.
Enis became the first player in the American Conference to record a pair of games with double-digit three-point makes, and his eight first-half threes set a new program record, surpassing the previous mark of six set in 2004.
He scored 24 points in the first half, tying for the fifth-most points in a single half in program history, and finished one three-pointer shy of tying the American Conference single-game record.
Izaiyah Nelson added 22 points and 14 rebounds to record his 12th double-double of the season and his sixth consecutive double-double. He is now two games away from tying the all-time record of eight in a row (Terrence Leather - Feb. 16, 2005 to March 11, 2005).
Joseph Pinion finished with 16 points on four made three-pointers, while
CJ Brown contributed nine points and four assists as the Bulls maintained control throughout the second halfÂ
Wes Enis opened the scoring with his first three-pointer of the night, setting the tone for South Florida's fast-paced start.
Izaiyah Nelson followed with an efficient early stretch around the rim, capitalizing on his high catch rate as the conference's leading rebounder and the NCAA's No. 20 rebounder overall.
The Bulls dictated the opening half with pace and physicality, winning the rebounding battle 23–9 and pulling down nine offensive boards that led to nine second-chance points, while Tulsa had none. South Florida carried a 48–36 halftime lead, its largest at the break in conference play.
South Florida carried the same intensity into the second half, continuing to pressure Tulsa defensively and control possessions. The Bulls forced turnovers at a high rate, leaning on a defense that leads the league in steals and forced turnovers, and repeatedly turned stops into points to keep Tulsa from mounting a sustained run.
South Florida finished the night with 16 made three-pointers, the second-most in program history, setting the program record for threes attempted (42). USF defeated Tulsa 93-78, handing the Golden Hurricanes their first home loss of the season.
