USF Softball Battles Wichita State Under the National Spotlight Sunday

The Bulls will play their first linear game of the season on Sunday

TAMPA, Fla. (March 25, 2026) – The University of South Florida softball team hosts Wichita State at the USF Softball Complex for a three-game American Conference series. The Bulls (25-10, 7-2 American) and the Shockers (18-11, 6-3 American) are set for a 6:05 p.m. first pitch on Friday, March 27, on ESPN+. Saturday's game will also be streamed on ESPN+, and Sunday's matchup will air on ESPNU at 4:05 p.m.
 
Sunday's game will be the annual Strikeout Cancer game. Fans will receive a lavender towel to show support for all types of cancer.
 
Series History vs Wichita State:
South Florida and Wichita State will meet for the 28th time on Friday. The series is tied 13-13-1 between the Bulls and the Shockers. Last season, the teams split the series 1-1-1 in Wichita. The Bulls are 7-3 at home against the Shockers.
 
Note-A-Bulls:
Kathy Garcia-Soto is tied for 13th in the NCAA with four triples, which leads the American Conference. She is tied for 31st in the nation with 75 assists.
 
Alex Wilkes is tied for third in the conference with eight home runs. Her 40 RBIs are tied for 33rd in the country and lead the American. She is tied for 30th in the NCAA and leads the conference with 11 doubles.
 
McKenna Schroding shares the American Conference lead with two shutouts.
 
Belle Sardja is tied for 11th in the NCAA and is second in the conference with three saves. She also shares the lead in the conference with two shutouts.
 
Carley Ernst is tied for 38th in the NCAA and tied for third in the American with two saves.
 
The Bulls lead the NCAA with 36 sacrifice bunts. USF is tied for sixth nationally with 21 double plays. South Florida is tied for 20th in the country with 11 triples, the most in the conference. The Bulls are tied for 10th in the NCAA with a .982 fielding percentage, which is also the best mark in the conference. South Florida has recorded 16 sacrifice flies, ranking tied for 14th in the NCAA and also leading the conference. 
 
The South Florida pitching staff is tied for 23rd in the NCAA and leads the American Conference with six shutouts. USF ranks 36th nationally and has the top ERA in the conference at 3.14. The Bulls are tied for 45th overall and are second in the conference with a WHIP of 1.38.
