TAMPA, Fla. (March 28, 2026) –
DaNia Brooks led the University of South Florida softball team both offensively and defensively on Saturday against Wichita State. The Bulls (26-11, 8-3 American) ended a three-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Shockers (19-12, 7-4 American).
Brooks finished the day a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI. Defensively, she recorded a career-high six assists, tying the most by a Bull this season.
Alex Wilkes got a hit and scored a run. She has safely reached base in 11 straight games.
Karhys Pierce has safely reached base in six consecutive games after recording a hit in today's game.
Jamia Nelson tied a career high with 14 putouts.
How It Happened
Kiley Strott started the bottom of the third inning with a single down the third base line.
Sam Walz entered to run for Strott.
Toryn Fulton singled to right field. Garcia-Soto laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt that advanced Walz and Fulton to third and second, respectively.
Alexa Galligani gave the Bulls a 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly to left field.
The Shockers tied the game in the top of the fourth inning with a solo home run by Ausha Moore.
Wilkes led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a double off the left-center field wall and moved to third on an error by the shortstop. Pierce gave the Bulls the lead again with an RBI single through the left side. USF took a 2-1 lead into the fifth inning.
Elliott started the bottom of the sixth inning with a double to right-center. Wilkes flew out to right field, and Elliott tagged up to advance to third. After Pierce drew a walk, Brooks singled to the right side, driving in Elliott from third. The Bulls maintained a 3-1 lead as the game moved into the seventh inning.
Anne Long started the game in the circle and pitched her third complete game of the season. She only allowed one run on four hits and improved to 8-3 for the season.
