USF’s Ryding Sits in Second Place After the First Day of the American Men’s Golf Championship

SARASOTA, Fla. (April 27, 2026) – Wilhelm Ryding sits in second place out of 55 golfers, after shooting 6-under 66 in the opening round of the American Championship on Monday at the Ritz-Carlton Members Club in Sarasota, Fla.
 
South Florida is in fourth place out of 11 teams with a team score of 6-under 282 after the first round.
 
Joshua Stewart sits in 14th place with a 2-under 70, and Hugo Trommetter (E) is in 26th.
 
Nino Palmquist and Jackson Spybey are tied for 37th place at 2-over 74.
 
Up Next
The Bulls will tee off in the second round at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow alongside East Carolina and UAB.

About USF Men's Golf
The USF men's golf program has captured 19 conference titles and has seen players earn 19 All-America honors. The Bulls have won six American Athletic Conference Tournament championships in wire-to-wire fashion, winning four consecutive from 2015-18. The Bulls have had six individual conference champions, including Jake Peacock in both 2024 and 2025. They went to nine straight NCAA Regional appearances from 2013-2022, including a 6th place finish in NCAA Championship match-play in 2015.
