USF Track and Field Turn in Strong Marks Against Elite Field at Florida Relays

Bulls deliver strong performances against elite competition at Percy Beard Track in Gainesville

Gainesville, Fla., April 4, 2026 – The University of South Florida track and field program competed at the Florida Relays, hosted by the University of Florida, delivering multiple top-five finishes, personal bests, and strong marks against a nationally competitive field at Percy Beard Track.

The Bulls were led by standout performances across sprints, hurdles, middle distance, and field events, continuing to build early-season momentum against one of the deepest meets of the outdoor season.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Throws:
Annalee Harbison recorded a personal-best throw of 56.92m in the hammer throw.

Esteisy "Fabiana" Salas Lozano added a strong mark of 15.63m in the shot put invite.

Pole Vault:
Nikodem Pochopien finished second in the pole vault after clearing 5.30m, and Payton Pitts also cleared 5.30m to place third on attempts.

Middle Distance:
Karim Belmahdi posted a personal-best time of 1:48.27 in the 800m.

Mercy Angaamchaab added a solid performance on the women's side, finishing in 2:09.04.

Jumps:
Alesandro Williams-Cardoso placed third in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.40m.

LaQuan Ellis also secured a podium finish, taking third in the triple jump with 15.12m.

On the women's side, Tristen Evatt recorded a 5.87m mark in the long jump. Lilah Versluis cleared 1.72m to finish fourth in the high jump.

Sprints:
Kelsey Singleton turned in a standout performance, placing third in the 400m with a time of 45.43.

Jaleel Croal added a fourth-place finish with a time of 20.74 in the 200m.

Lynette Scutari clocked 11.59 in the women's 100m.

Relays:
The men's 4x100m relay team of Shomari Pettigrew, Jaleel Croal, Alexavier Monfries, and Nathan Metelus finished third in prelims with a time of 38.97. Nathan Metelus, Jaleel Croal, Alexavier Monfries, and Cayden Broadnax placed fourth in 39.67 in the finals.

Hurdles:
In the 400m hurdles, Darian Mills recorded 50.89 and Joshua Crum recorded 50.94 to finish seventh and eighth.

Up Next:
South Florida returns home to host the South Florida Invitational on April 10–11 at the USF Track and Field Stadium.

The Bulls' 4x400m relay squad— Devontie Archer, Alexavier Monfries, Corey Ottey and Gabriel Moronta — claimed a national title with a program-record time of 3:00.42 at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, earning a top-15 finish as a team. This past season, nine Bulls athletes earned All-America honors, including Kobe Babin, Devontie Archer, Alexavier Monfries, Corey Ottey, Gabriel Moronta, Shomari Pettigrew, Jaleel Croal, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, and Vincent Ugwoke.
