USF Track & Field Hosts South Florida Invitational

Weekend features Senior Night, Special Olympics and Fastest Kid in Tampa Bay at USF Track & Field Stadium
TAMPA, Fla., April 9, 2026 - The University of South Florida track and field program returns home to Tampa, Florida to continue the outdoor season at the South Florida Invitational at the USF Track & Field Stadium this weekend. The meet will feature the men competing on Friday and the women competing on Saturday.
Beyond competition, the 2026 South Florida Invitational will continue to emphasize community engagement, marking the third consecutive year of fan-focused and inclusive events woven into the meet experience.
Friday's schedule will feature a Special Olympics exhibition, highlighting USF's continued partnership and commitment to providing a platform for athletes of all abilities.
Saturday's events will include the return of several fan-favorite activations, including the "Fastest Kid in Tampa Bay" races and the Fun Run with Rocky, creating opportunities for local youth and families to be part of the meet atmosphere.
The weekend will also recognize the program's 18 seniors, celebrating their contributions to South Florida track and field during a senior recognition ceremony.
Rankings Entering the South Florida Invitational:
South Florida enters the Florida Relays with strong early-season momentum, backed by top marks across the American Conference.
Kelsey Singleton earned American Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career, the conference announced Tuesday. Singleton posted a personal-best time of 45.43 in the 400 meters to finish third at the Florida Relays. He ranks No. 1 in the American, No. 5 in the East Region and No. 8 in the NCAA.
The Bulls hold multiple top spots in the conference. Singleton ranks No. 1 in the American in the 400 meters. Karim Belmahdi ranks No. 1 in the American in the 800 meters (1:48.27). Mercy Angaamchaab ranks No. 1 in the American in the women's 800 meters (2:09.04), giving USF the top mark in both the men's and women's event.
In the sprints, Jaleel Croal ranks No. 2 in the American in the 100 meters (10.14) and No. 3 in the 200 meters (20.74). Nathan Metelus ranks No. 2 in the conference in the 200 meters (20.64).
At the national level, Singleton ranks No. 8 in the NCAA in the 400 meters. Croal ranks inside the top 15 nationally in the 100 meters. Metelus ranks inside the top 20 nationally in the 200 meters, highlighting USF's presence against the nation's top competition.
On the women's side, Lynette Scutari ranks No. 6 in the American in the 100 meters (11.59). Mercy Angaamchaab and Sydni Studesville (2:12.72) both rank inside the top 10 in the conference in the 800 meters, continuing to lead a strong middle-distance group.

Erik Jenkins is in his seventh season as the USF head coach. The South Florida men's track and field team has won five straight American Conference championships. The Bulls' 4x400m relay squad— Devontie Archer, Alexavier Monfries, Corey Ottey and Gabriel Moronta — claimed a national title with a program-record time of 3:00.42 at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, earning a top-15 finish as a team. This past season, nine Bulls athletes earned All-America honors, including Kobe Babin, Devontie Archer, Alexavier Monfries, Corey Ottey, Gabriel Moronta, Shomari Pettigrew, Jaleel Croal, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, and Vincent Ugwoke.
