Alex Harris joined the University of South Florida men’s basketball team as the director of player development in April 2025.
Harris previously spent two seasons on Bryan Hodgson’s staff at Arkansas State as their assistant coach for player development, where he assisted in the Red Wolves’ program-record 25-win season and National Invitation Tournament (NIT) berth during the 2024-25 campaign. He was instrumental in the development of guard Taryn Todd, who earned First-Team All-Sun Belt honors, and forward Izaiyah Nelson, who earned Third-Team All-Sun Belt honors.
Prior to his time at Arkansas State, Harris served as associate head coach at Word of God Christian Academy (North Carolina) during the 2022-23 season, helping lead the team to a 31-11 record and a berth in the John Wall Holiday Invitational championship game. Six members of that team went on to play Division I basketball.
During the 2021-22 season, he was an assistant coach at E.E. Smith High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where the team posted an 18-7 record, won a conference championship, and made its first state playoff appearance in a decade. That same year, Harris was also an assistant coach for Team Loaded NC 17U on the Adidas 3SSB circuit and served as head coach of the 17U Team Loaded AAU program.
From 2018-21, Harris was an assistant coach at Jack Britt High School in Fayetteville, where he helped organize practices and game plans.
