Ryan Kardok was hired as the director of player development for USF men’s basketball on June 6, 2022.
Kardok previously played for the Bulls from 2008-10 was named to the Big East All-Academic Team. Originally from Parkland, Florida, the point guard began his collegiate career at Broward Community College before coming to South Florida for his final two seasons.
Prior to his return to USF, Kardok was most recently the head coach at Parrish Community High School from 2020-22. He guided his team to a 20-8 record in 2022, marking the first 20-win season in program history. Kardok guided Parrish to back-to-back district championships for the first time in school history while his squads also finished in the top-6 in the state for team GPA both seasons. For his efforts, Kardok was named the District 16 4A Coach of the Year.
Kardok served as an assistant coach at James Madison University from 2019-20, working under current USF assistant and former JMU head coach Louis Rowe. He also crossed paths with Rowe at Bowing Green where Kardok served in multiple roles for the Falcons from 2015-19.
At Bowling Green, Kardok began as a video coordinator in 2015-16, served as the director of basketball operations from 2016-19 and also had a stint as interim assistant head coach from February-July 2018.
Kardok’s coaching career began as a graduate assistant at the University of Miami from 2013-15 where he was mentored by Naismith Coach of the Year Jim Larranaga.
“I have known coach Kardok for over nine years. He is inquisitive, intelligent and extremely positive. One of his best attributes is his ability to connect with players and staff members, as he has a gift of making people feel comfortable and valued. He is a hard worker and has great passion for the game of basketball,” Larranaga said of Kardok.
Kardok earned his bachelor of science in finance from USF in 2010 and a master of arts in liberal studies from Miami in 2015.
Ryan and his wife, Lorianna, have two daughters, Ariah and Liv.
