Spencer Smith is in his fourth season as video coordinator for the USF men's basketball team.
Smith came to USF after spending four seasons at the University of Oklahoma under head coach Lon Kruger. He began as an undergraduate manager, later serving as a graduate assistant and assistant to the video coordinator.
His duties included assisting in on-court skill development, scouting of opponents, conducting game and player breakdowns, the filming and breakdown of each practice and game, as well as camp coordination and the creation and distribution of recruiting materials.
In his time at Oklahoma, the Sooners achieved four straight 20-win seasons, for a total record of 98-41. During the 2015-2016 season, they rose a No. 1 national ranking and were the only team in America to spend the entire season ranked inside the Top 10.
During his four years, the Sooners went to four-straight NCAA tournaments, which included a berth in the Sweet Sixteen in 2015, and culminated with a berth in the NCAA Final Four in 2016.
Smith also worked with three eventual NBA draft selections, including the 2016 NCAA Men's Basketball National Player of the Year, Buddy Hield.
Prior to OU, Smith attended the University of Kentucky and worked in equipment, mostly working with the men's basketball team.
He earned his bachelor's degree in communications from Oklahoma in 2015.
Smith is a native of Tampa, Fla. and attended Cambridge Christian School where he was all-state in basketball.
