LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Wednesday, Oct. 26) ? Led by a pair of goals by BIG EAST Rookie of the Year candidate
Jordan Seabrook, the University of South Florida men's soccer team (10-5-0, 8-2-0, BIG EAST) defeated the Louisville Cardinals (5-10-2, 2-6-2 BIG EAST), 4-1, on Wednesday, Oct. 26, earning the Bulls a first-round bye in the upcoming BIG EAST Championship. The win coupled with a 1-0 loss by St. John's to Villanova (also on Wednesday) gave USF the Red Division title for the 2005 season.
Seabrook notched two goals and an assist versus the Cardinals, including the game-winning goal in the 66th minute. The multiple-goal performance was the third of the season for the first-year striker, who now leads the team with 11 goals. Sophomore

Keeron Benito each notched goals during contest to round out USF's scoring. In all the Bulls ? led by Seabrook ? out-shot the Cardinals 21-14. The 21 shots marked the seventh time this season USF has registered 20-or-more shots in a contest. Goalkeeper
Dane Brenner (10-5-0, 1.38 GAA) recorded a season-high seven saves en route to his 10th victory of the season. The 10 wins are the most in a single season for the third-year goalkeeper.
Louisville got on the board first with a goal by Ryan Edwards in the 17th minute. However, a red card ejection of defender John Jonke in the 37th minute changed the landscape of the game in favor of the Bulls. Jonke's red card resulted in a penalty kick attempt by Hidalgo ? the third of the season for the USF sophomore. Hidalgo successfully converted the PK to tie the game at 1-all. The penalty-kick goal was the fifth of the season for USF ? the most by any team coached under George Kiefer.
USF and Louisville went into halftime tied at 1-1 with a 9-8 advantage in shots by the Bulls.
Playing with a man-advantage, USF exploded for three goals in the second half, outshooting Louisville 12-6 in the final 45 minutes. Seabrook tallied two goals in a span of three minutes to give USF a 3-1 lead in the 69th minute. The Bulls added a goal in the 89th minute when Seabrook found Benito for his second goal of the season. Seabrook was credited with his fifth assist of 2005 on the score.
The win resulted in USF's eighth conference victory this year, giving the 2005 Bulls more league victories in a single season than any other previous USF squad. The win also snapped a two-game road losing skid for USF.
Kiefer is now 2-1-1 all-time versus the Louisville as USF moves to 12-3-1 in the series history with the Cardinals. The win was the first-ever victory for USF at Cardinal Park (1-1-1 all-time).
USF will next host the Cincinnati Bearcats Saturday, Oct. 29 in the final regular season contest. Game time is 7:30 p.m. (EST).
