SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Sunday, Oct. 9) ? An early goal by Syracuse midfielder James Goodwin proved to be the difference as the University of South Florida men's soccer team (6-4-0, 5-1-0 BIG EAST) suffered its first conference loss of the 2005 season, 1-0, to the Orange (5-5-2, 1-5-1 BIG EAST) at Lampe Athletics Complex on Sunday, Oct. 9. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for USF ? the longest under head coach George Kiefer.
Off of an Isaac Collings' free kick in the ninth minute, Goodwin scored the game's only goal with a strike from 10 yards out. The goal was the first of the season for Goodwin. Collings was credited with his fourth assist of the season on the play.
