Providence, R.I. (September 12, 2005) – Senior midfielder
Jenny Mulvihill was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the week for the week ending September 11, 2005.
Mulvihill (Oviedo, Fla.) led the Bulls during the week recording five goals in a series of victories over Stetson (2-0), Mercer (2-0), and Longwood (3-1). She scored the winning goal versus Stetson as well as a pair of goals in both the Mercer and Longwood matches. In USF's last four contests, the senior has posted six goals to lead the team with 12 points on the season.
“This is a great, well deserved honor for Jenny,” said head coach
T. Logan Fleck. “She's very humbled by this honor however when a player scored four goals in two games and adds one more in the fashion of a great struck ball to the upper 90, I think it is well deserved.”
Joining her teammate with BIG EAST honors this week was junior goalkeeper
Casey Garrett who was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for her efforts on the week. She recorded a pair of shutout victories over Stetson and Mercer while only allowing one goal to Longwood on Sunday. In total, the junior logged 270 minutes while recording 15 saves during the week.
“Posting two shutouts and one goal allowed in three games gives us an opportunity to win,” said Fleck. “Both girls will show you that individual awards will directly reflect upon the team and that's all they will talk about.”
