Seabrook Leads USF to Overtime Win Over FAU, 1-0

TAMPA, Fla. (October 4, 2006) ? A goal by sophomore Jordan Seabrook during the 96th-minute of overtime led the University of South Florida men's soccer team (6-4-2) to a 1-0 win over the FAU Owls (3-6-1) on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at the USF Soccer Stadium.

The win marked the first home victory of the season for the Bulls, while snapping a two-game losing skid.

Through 90 minutes of action neither team could finds the back of the net sending the mid-week contest to overtime ? the third of the season for USF.

Seabrook snapped the 0-0 deadlock with his fourth goal of the season in the 96th minute. On a quick counter from the USF third of the field, passes from Sammy Castellanos and Kris Raad led to the golden goal. Castellanos found an unmarked Raad on the left side of the field. Raad quickly turned a chipped a long pass to a streaking Seabrook, who was heading towards the right side of the FAU area. The Indianapolis, Ind., native got possession of the ball behind the Owls defense and chipped the game-winning shot over the charging FAU keeper. Raad was credited with his third assist of the season, while Castellanos notched fourth assist on the score. The game-winner was the second of the season fro Seabrook. 

Despite playing a man down since the 59th minute of the contest, USF continued to pressure FAU, holding a slight edge in shots 14-10.

Goalkeeper Dane Brenner notched his fifth shutout victory of the season, needing to make only one save as the USF defense kept FAU in check. 

USF will hit the road to take on BIG EAST foe Cincinnati on Saturday, Oct. 7. Game time is 7 p.m.
