W. Soccer Team Posts 3.28 GPA

TAMPA - After spending much of their fall semester on the road, the University of South Florida women's soccer team still maintained their academic excellence in the classroom, posting an impressive 3.28 grade point average for the fall 2007 semester.

In the fall, 18-of-25 roster players earned a 3.0 GPA or higher. Even more remarkable was their GPAs were earned in season when the team was often traveling, with 13-of-18 games on the road.

“That is a testament to both the coaching staff and the student-athletes' drive to make academics the top priority,” said Coordinator for Academic Support Services Courtney Lewellen. "It also continues this team's long history of academic success here at USF."

Last year, the women's soccer team was honored with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award. The Bulls were one of 411 collegiate soccer teams, 298 of which were women's squads, to post a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
