BOX SCORE
TAMPA - Despite taking an early lead, the University of South Florida women's soccer team dropped a hard fought 2-1 decision to the University of Cincinnati Friday night at the USF Soccer Stadium.
Wearing special pink uniforms in honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Bulls would strike first at 10:39 when freshman Molly Stack would loft what looked like a crossing pass from the deep right corner over the Bearcat keeper's out-stretched arms and into the left corner of the net, with assist coming from freshman Rehana Murani and junior Amanda McCormick. The goal is the Palm Harbor native's first career goal.
The Bearcats would answer as Kristin May would sneak a free kick by a diving Mallori Lofton-Malachi in the 22nd minute. The free kick came off a hand ball call 23 yards from directly in front of the goal.
Cincinnati would then take the lead for good in the 54th minute on Julie Morrissey's 5th goal of the season with the assist coming from May.
The Bulls mounted a few scoring opportunities late but we unable to convert before time expired.
Lofton-Malachi would stop five shots on the night as she continues to climb up the record books. The junior from Philadelphia moved into second place for most saves in a season with 95 saves and third all-time in career saves at 176.
With the loss, the Bulls fall to 7-5-3 and 3-4-1 in the BIG EAST.
