TAMPA - The University of South Florida softball team fell to Wisconsin, 2-1, when the Badgers plated a seventh inning run during second day action at the USF Louisville Slugger Tournament.
The Badgers scored first on a homerun from Florida native, Ashley Hanewich to lead off the third inning.
A pitching duel ensued as the Bulls and Badgers exchanged defensive frames.
The Bulls offense tied the game in the sixth when, with bases loaded, catcher Cat Olnick doubled to left field and drove home pinch runner Lauren Rodriguez.
Freshman pitcher Capri Catalano started the game and recorded three hitless innings before senior Courtney Mosch took over in the pitcher's circle in the bottom of the sixth.
Mosch was charged with the loss after UW catcher Joey Daniels reached on a two out double and scored on a throwing error by USF third baseman Allison Savarese.
USF will return to action Sunday when it meets the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at 2 p.m. to conclude the USF Louisville Slugger Tournament.
