CLEARWATER, Fla. - - The University of South Florida softball team had their 11-game win streak snapped in a 4-1 loss to Oklahoma State at the USF Under Armour Showcase on Saturday afternoon in Clearwater, Fla.
The Bulls are now 20-9 on the season, while the Cowgirls improved to 14-12 after the win.
Oklahoma State jumped out to a quick lead by scoring three runs in the first inning. The Cowgirls scored off a two-RBI single to left field and an RBI double to center field. Another RBI put the Cowgirls up 4-0 in the top of the second.
USF's lone run came late in the sixth inning. With the Bulls down by four, first baseman
JoJo Medina scored
Britta Giddens off a sacrifice fly to right field.
Freshman pitcher Capri Catalano came out of the bullpen to relieve sophomore
Kristen Gordon in the bottom of the sixth. Catalano allowed only hit over two innings of work and did not factor into the decision.
Gordon took the loss in the circle for the Bulls to fall to 1-4 for the season.
The Bulls will return to the Eddie C. Moore Complex to take on No. 10 LSU at 4 p.m. and Fordham at 6 p.m. on Sunday to end the USF Under Armour Showcase in Clearwater, Fla.
