PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The BIG EAST Conference selected University of South Florida freshman Stephen Hunt and sophomore Shawn Sanford to the Weekly Honor Roll for their performances April 22-27.

In five games as the designated hitter last week, Hunt batted .571 with 12 hits ? eight of which were extra-base knocks. He missed hitting for the cycle by one hit on both Saturday and Sunday, needing a home run on Saturday, and a double on Sunday to achieve the feat. The true freshman from Jesuit High in Tampa slugged 1.238 and had an on base percentage of .609 while scoring 11 runs. He tallied 13 RBI, struck out only once, drew a pair of walks and stole one base. In 23 games this season, Hunt is third on the team with a .333 batting average and 32 RBI. He has collected seven doubles, a pair of triples, and a trio of home runs to post a .600 slugging percentage. In BIG EAST games, Hunt is third in the league in RBI (20) and fourth in triples (2).

Sanford earned his fifth win and 10th and 11th saves in four appearances last week. He struck out six while allowing only one run in 6.0 innings, posting a 1.50 ERA. The righty from Cinnaminson, N.J., faced 21 batters, holding them to a .148 batting average. In a pair of BIG EAST games against Villanova, he didn't allow a hit or a run. Overall in 2008, Sanford has made 28 appearances, earning a 5-4 record with 11 saves. He has 38 Ks in 36.0 innings pitched for a 1.05 strikeouts per inning average, which is second-best on the team. As of April 20, he was fifth in the country and second in the BIG EAST in saves. He also leads the conference in appearances, games finished (25) and games in relief (28).
