COACHES VS. CANCER SUITS & SNEAKERS WEEKEND
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, is promoting the 2009 Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers awareness weekend January 30-February 1, 2009.
The NABC is encouraging member coaches and their staff to wear sneakers with their suits at games held that weekend to show support for the Coaches vs. Cancer program. Suits and Sneakers will unite coaches from across the country in the common effort to raise cancer awareness in their communities.
Did you know that at least one-third of cancer deaths could be prevented with proper diet and exercise? In fact, obesity has been shown to increase the risk for many forms of cancer, including breast, prostate, and colon cancers. By wearing sneakers, you can raise awareness among college basketball audiences about the fight against cancer and the importance that nutrition and physical activity plays in reducing people's risk of the disease and how, together, we can save lives. By wearing sneakers with your game attire February 1-3, you can serve as a role model in communicating this important message to your fans and community.
