TAMPA - The University of South Florida women's basketball team overcame a 13-point first half deficit to win its sixth straight game, defeating Jacksonville 76-64 Sunday afternoon at the Sun Dome.
Jessica Lawson scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, while Jasmine Wynne and Sequoyah Griffin chipped in with 18 points and 10 points respectively.
The Bulls (7-2) jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead just 1:20 into the game when Wynne scored four of the games first six points.
The Dolphins (1-6), however, would get things going cutting the lead to one-point four times before finally taking their first advantage of the game, 17-16, on a jumper by Desarae Johnson with 10:02 left in the half.
Jacksonville would continue its offensive flurry using a 22-8 run to push its lead to the largest of the game, 39-26, on a layup by Crystal Grable with 2:48 left in the first stanza.
After a motivating time out by USF head coach Jose Fernandez, USF would put together a 12-1 run to close out the half and entered the locker room with the scored tied at 40-all.
After the break, the Dolphins would get their lead back to six points, 49-43 on two Grable free throws with 16:44 left in the contest.
Both teams would go back-and-forth with neither leading by more than five points.
The Bulls would take the lead - and not relinquish it - when Janae Stokes hit her first and only three-pointer of the game with 4:54 left to make the score 64-62.
USF would close out the game, after Stokes' trey, on a 12-2 run leading to its biggest margin of the contest, 12 points, at the buzzer.
USF shot 44.8 percent (26-58) from the field while holding Jacksonville to just 29.6 percent (23-78) from the floor.
The Bulls dominated the paint outscoring the Dolphins 44-20 in the lane.
In addition to her 18 points, Wynne also recorded six assists and five steals in 36 minutes of play.
Lawson was 12-19 from the field in 33 minutes of play in the victory.

- Jessica Lawson recorded a career-high 26 points surpassing her previous mark of 25 scored against Saint Peter's on Nov. 28.
- Lawson's 26 points today against Jacksonville marks the eighth time this season - in nine games - that she has netted double figures ... In addition, her 20-plus point output is the second time this year that she reached the 20-point plateau ... She scored 24 points against Saint Peters on Nov. 16.
- Lawson also grabbed 16 rebounds, along with her 26 points for her fifth double-double of the season, and her first since 15-point, 15-rebound outing against Montana on Nov. 27 ... In addition it was her 15th double-double as a Bull and the 16th of her collegiate career.
- Dominique English scored a career-high six points while also playing a career-high 14 minutes.
