Bulls Open Up First NCAA Appearance with Auburn

- Making their first appearance in the NCAA tournament, the University of South Florida women's soccer team (13-5-3) will take on Auburn (11-7-2) on Friday, Nov. 12 in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Championships.
- Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. eastern at Florida State's Seminole Sports Complex. The winner will move on to play the winner of host Florida State and Middle Tennessee who play at 4:30 p.m on Friday.
- USF picked up it's first national ranking this week coming in at No. 25 in the latest edition of the Soccer America Top 25 rankings.
- USF is 13-5-3 on the season.
- USF is 2-1-0 on neutral sites.
- USF has not lost consecutive matches all season. USF is 4-0 following a loss this season.
- USF is 2-5-1 against teams that were selected to the 2010 NCAA Tournament. USF is 6-5-1 against teams that qualified for the 2009 NCAA tournament. - With a 5-1-1 record, the Bulls completed their best non-conference slate since 2005 when USF went 5-1 against teams outside the BIG EAST conference. It was the Bulls best start since 1998 when they opened with a 9-0 record.
- USF's 38 goals scored this season is most of the Denise Schilte-Brown era and the most since 1999 when they scored 68 goals on the season. It is the third most all-time in USF history.
- Eight different Bulls have tallied a goal this season and 15 different USF players have registered at least one point.
- The Bulls have held their opponents to one goal or less in 16 of their 21 matches, including 10 shutouts.  USF allowed multiple goals just five times. USF is 10-2-2 when they hold the opposition to a goal or less in a match.­­­­­
- USF had won six straight matches prior to the loss against West Virginia. The Bulls have won eight of their last 10 and are 8-1-1 in those matches. The winning streak was the longest since 1999 when the Bulls won seven straight matches and six matches is fourth longest winning streak in program history. The school record is nine, which was set when the Bulls opened the 1998 season 9-0-0.
- USF won consecutive matches against teams ranked in the RPI top 20 (No. 17 Georgetown and No. 11 Marquette) for the first time in school history.
- USF is two wins shy of tying the school's highest mark for wins in a season of 15 set in 1998.
- 35 goals is the third most in school history. Of the 25 goals only five have been unassisted and three have come off a penalty kick. USF is three of four on penalty kicks. Junior Chelsea Klotz is two of three while fellow junior Noelle Pineiro was successful in her lone attempt of the season.
- The loss to West Virginia in the BIG EAST Championship match snapped USF's season long six match winning streak. The winning streak was the longest since 1999 when the Bulls won seven straight matches and six matches is fourth longest winning streak in program history. The school record is nine, which was set when the Bulls opened the 1998 season 9-0-0.
- USF is averaging1.67 goals per match while taking 15.0 shots per match.
- USF's 26 assists are the most since 1999 when they totaled 56 helpers.
- USF has allowed just four goals in their last seven matches and just 18 all season. USF has allowed eight first half goals and nine second half goals and one goal in overtime.

Against Auburn
- The meeting between the Bulls and Tigers will mark the first between the two schools. USF 1-5-1 against members  of the Southeastern Conference.
- The lone common opponent was Marquette. Marquette defeated the Tigers, 3-0 on 8/27. USF lost to Marquette in their BIG EAST opener then defeated the Golden Eagles 3-0 in the BIG EAST Championship Seminfinals

Against the Noles
- If the Bulls win they could potentially met up with No. 2 seed Florida State. The Seminoles lead the all-time series against USF, 7-0-1. The two teams have not met since 2004.

Against Middle Tennesee State
- If the Bulls will they could potentially face Middle Tennesee State. The two program's have never met before but USF assistant coach Adam Sayers would be meeting up with his former team. Sayers came to USF prior to the 2009 season after serving as an assistant coach for the previous five seasons with the Middle Tennessee State soccer program, three years as a full-time assistant and two years as a graduate assistant. He was a part of five straight winning seasons at Middle Tennessee, and the Blue Raiders established numerous school records in each of those seasons as well as winning the first Sun Belt Championship in program history in 2004.

About Denise Schilte-Brown
- Denise Schilte-Brown is in her fourth year at the helm of the University South Florida women's soccer program and 13th year overall as a head coach overall with stops at Virginia Commonwealth and her alma mater, University of Maryland- Baltimore County.  In her four seasons at USF Schilte-Brown has amassed a record of 33-31-12 and a 127-100- 29 slate overall.
- She led the program to it's first NCAA tournament appearance
- Schilte-Brown has guided the Bulls to the BIG EAST Tournaments in three of her four seasons.
- Under Schilte-Brown, the Bulls have improved in almost every offensive and defensive category each year. USF has bettered its numbers from the previous year for the fourth straight season in wins, BIG EAST wins, goals scored, points, shots on goal, goals allowed, GAA and shutouts.

Individual Notes
- Venicia Reid leads the team with 30 points on the season. She  and fellow junior Chelsea Klotz are tied for the team-lead with 11 goals apiece.
-Venicia Reid's two goals against Marquette marked the second time she has scored multiple goals in a single match this season. The first was against Harvard.  Chelsea Klotz has scored multiple goals three times this season. Klotz and Reid are the only Bulls to accomplish the feat this season.- With 30 points on the season, Reid is now tied with USF great Siri Nordby for third place on the single-season points list. She is just two points behind Erin Devine for second on the list and is 13 points shy of Kristine Edner's school-record 43 points set in 1998.
- Previous to the West Virginia match, Reid had scored scored a goal in four straight matches and tallied a point in six straight.
- Reid and junior Chelsea Klotz have accounted for 22 of the Bulls 35 goals

- Now with 24 career goals, Chelsea Klotz is in 4th place on the USF all-time scoring list.  She trails only Siri Nordby  (41) and Kristine Edner (37)  and Tia Opliger (25) on the list
- Having started every match this season, Nicole McClure will be in net for the Bulls. On the season, McClure has a goals against average of 0.82 and has made 82 saves on the season good for a .820 save percentage.
- Having played in 74 career matches, Angelique Waller set the USF record for most career matches played in surpassing the 72 matches played in set by Aleia Long, 1999-02.
-  USF's seven junior starters have combined for 332 games played in; Chelsea Klotz (59), Gina Pacheco (58),  Valorie O'Brien (57), Molly Stack (59), Rehana Murani (57), Venicia Reid (21), and Nicole McClure (21). Reid and McClure and are in their first active seasons with the Bulls.

Wrapping Up USF's Run in the BIG EAST Championships
- The Bulls were the No. 3 seed out of the American Division in the recent BIG EAST Championship. After receiving a first round bye USF traveled to the nations capaital and knocked off Georgetown in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, USF came from behind twice to defeat then- No.12/8 Marquette 3-2 in Piscataway, NJ. The Bulls eventual lost to No. 22 West Virginia, 1-0.
- The finals appearance marks the farthest the Bulls have ever advanced in the BIG EAST Championship since joining the BIG EAST in 2005.  USF is now 3-3 in six BIG EAST Championship matches. USF has won three of their last five BIG EAST Tournament matches dating back to 2009.
- Prior to 2010, the Bulls had only advanced to a Conference Tournament final once in 16 seasons prior to 2010 which came in 1998 when they won the C-USA Regular Championship.
- USF has never finished higher than fourth in a conference tournament other than 1998 when they lost to Marquette in the Conference USA Championship match.
- The come from behind win against Marquette was the first of the season for the Bulls.
- Being aired on CBS College Sports, the USF-Marquette BIG EAST Semifinal match marked the first time in program history that a USF women's soccer match aired to a national audience. It was immediately followed by the second as the Bulls Championship match against West Virginia was also televised to a national audience.
- The three goals scored against Marquette are the most the Bulls have scored in five BIG EAST Championship matches.
- The unassisted goal by Angelique Waller was the fourth unassisted goal of the season by the Bulls this season.
- Angelique Waller's goal was her first of the season and the second of her career. It was her first career game winner.
- The assist for Gina Pacheco was her fourth of season  and the eighth of her career, moving her into a four-way tie for eighth on the USF's assist's list.
- Senior Angelique Waller and juniors Venicia Reid and Chelsea Klotz were named to the 2010 BIG EAST All-Tournament team.
