CLEVELAND - University of South Florida senior forward Jarrid Famous recorded his second-straight double-double in the Bulls' 69-62 loss at Cleveland State on Dec. 22 in Ohio.

Famous had 22 points and 11 rebounds against the Vikings after notching 11 points and 10 rebounds on Dec. 18 against James Madison.

Junior Augustus Gilchrist returned to the lineup and put up 12 points on 5-8 shooting while pulling down four rebounds.

Ron Anderson Jr. continued to be a force for the Bulls on the boards, grabbing 13 rebounds including four on the offensive glass. Anderson Jr. also swatted four CSU shots on the night.

Hugh Robertson earned the start, and collected 11 points on 50 percent shooting.

Famous was well on his way to a double-double with 12 points and seven rebounds in the first half, scoring eight of the team's first 11 points. Forward Ron Anderson Jr. added eight rebounds and three blocked shots as the Bulls dominated the glass 29-16.

The USF defense held down the hot-shooting Vikings, allowing CSU only one three-pointer in the first half. Cleveland State came into the game averaging seven makes from downtown per game.

A balanced attack led to an early 9-9 score, but the Bulls reeled off on an 11-4 run to take the largest lead of the game, 20-13. Cleveland State countered with a 9-2 run, to tie the game at 22 with a little more than three minutes left in the stanza. A pair of free throws by Famous and a long jumper by Robertson took the Bulls into the locker room with a two-point advantage, 26-24.

Famous again struck gold to open the second half, scoring 10 of the team's first 12 points, six of which were two-handed dunks.

Midway through the second half, USF took a 43-39 lead, the largest advantage of the half, but after five-straight points from the Vikings and one Bulls free throw later, the game was tied at 44. Cleveland State outscored the Bulls 17-7 over the next eight minutes to take the Vikings' largest lead of the game, 61-51. USF's seven points during that stretch all came from sophomore Jawanza Poland. Sophomore Shaun Noriega quieted the crowd when he hit a three to stop the CSU run, his first three since the game against VCU on Dec. 1.

After USF pulled the score to within three points, 54-51, CSU again extended the margin to 10, 65-55 with two minutes left. Back to back buckets by Augustus Gilchrist brought the game within reach, 65-59 with a minute to play, but it was too little too late, as the Bulls dropped their third game in the past four contests.

USF will be off for a few days for the holiday, then will hit the road for a BIG EAST swing trip against Seton Hall (Dec.  28) and UConn (Dec. 31), before returning to the Sun Dome to face Villanova on Jan. 6 at 7 p.m.
