TAMPA - After 101 minutes of scoreless soccer, the University of Central Florida's Tishia Jewell corralled a loose ball in front of the Bulls' net and slipped a header past University of South Florida keeper Nicole McClure to give visiting UCF a 1-0 double-overtime win over the Bulls Friday evening at the USF Soccer Stadium.

The loss ends the Bulls three-match unbeaten streak to start the 2010 season.

Both the Bulls and Knights traded scoring opportunities throughout a very physical match that saw 18 combined fouls called with one yellow card handed out.

At one point in the first half, the Bulls earned three straight corner kicks but came up empty on each attempt.

Looking to make something happen, USF opened the second half aggressive trying  to take the lead with a number of forceful shots early on. The Bulls outshot the visiting Knights, 16-15, but the Bulls held a decisive 7-3 advantage in the shots on goal department. However, UCF out cornered the Bulls, 5-4.

The Bulls and Knights, scoreless through regulation headed to bonus soccer.

In the first session, the Bulls outshot the Knights, 2-1 with both shots flying barley wide of the goal.

In the second overtime, UCF's game winner was the only shot taken in the frame and proved to be a decisive one.

The Bulls' back line of Boo Eagle, Angelique Waller and Molly Stack were solid all night, limiting the Knights to just two shots on goal through the first 90:00 minutes, but in the second overtime, Jowell had just enough space to head in the game-winner for UCF's third shot on goal.

USF will return to the pitch Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. when they host another in-state foe in Stetson at the USF Soccer Stadium.

Game Notes
