The University of South Florida men's tennis team earned its fifth win over a ranked opponent on Friday with a 4-2 victory over No. 40 VCU at the USF Varsity Courts. The Bulls are now 12-6 on the season with just two matches remaining before the BIG EAST tournament.
“I don't think we played our best tennis, but we fought hard and competed well,” USF head coach Don Barr said. “To win when you're not playing well is about all you can ask. We'll move on and get ready for Louisville on Sunday.”
Juan Carlos Acuna Gerard clinched the match for the Bulls with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 win over Camill Salomon in the No. 5 position.
The Rams had rallied from a 3-0 deficit to make the score 3-2 with wins from Tom Johannsen over
