Game 41: at Miami | April 26 | 6:00 p.m. | Coral Gables, Fla.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - In a game that had three separate weather delays, junior Andrew Longley's fifth inning grand slam broke open a tie ball-game propelling the University of South Florida baseball team (19-20, 8-7) to a 10-5 win over Louisville Saturday afternoon at Jim Patterson Stadium.

With the bases loaded, Longley sent one of six pitches sandwiched in between rain delays of 41 and 58 minutes in the fifth inning down the left field line to break a 3-3 tie.

Earlier in the fifth, Sam Mende tied the game at three with his team-leading fourth homer of the season, a two-run shot, driving in Junior Carlin, who walked to start the inning.

The homer by Mende was the first of nine hits in the inning and following a Todd Brazeal strikeout the Bulls would rattle off eight straight hits highlighted by a Mende RBI single to close out the scoring in the inning.

The USF pitching staff combined to use four pitchers to get the win. Junior Matt Reed's 2.0 innings of relief of starter Junior Carlin was enough to pick up his third win of the season. Reed scattered four hits, gave up two runs but left as the pitcher of record after Bulls' seven run fifth.

Reliever Andrew Loynaz held off the Louisville offense working 2.1 to get the ball to Kevin Quackenbush with one down in the seventh for the first time this weekend. Quackenbush worked 2.2 scoreless innings to record his ninth save of the season allowing one hit and striking out one.

All nine USF starters recorded a hit in the game with the Bulls collecting a season-high 18 hits. Mende led a group of six Bulls with multiple hits as the junior shortstop tied a career-high with four hits, falling a triple shy of the cycle.

Todd Brazeal's RBI single in the first gave the Bulls the 1-0 lead.

USF will now return to Tampa briefly before heading to Coral Gables, Fla. for a mid-week clash against No. 24 Miami on Wednesday. The Bulls will look to sweep the season series against the Canes for the first time in program history.
