The Bulls paired good production from the middle of their lineup with great pitching from junior Brittany Bowles to sweep the double-header and improve to 24-15 on the season.
Bowles had one of her best outings of the season by pitching 4.0 innings and allowing just a single run on a second-inning solo home run. Bowles allowed just two hits on the day and struck out three in the winning effort.
The heart of the lineup continued to be outstanding for the Bulls offense as the 2-4 hitters went a combined 9-for-13 with six RBI and six runs scored in the game.
Ashli Goff was a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate with a pair of runs scored, while Kourtney Salvarola finished the day 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored as well.
Janine Richardson drove in a pair on a double to left-center in the third, and freshman Stephanie Medina hit her fifth home run of the year as part of a 2-for-2 day from the dish with three RBI.
The Bulls did not wait long to pounce on the Wildcats, as the Bulls got a three-run bomb in the opening frame and improved their record to 19-2 when scoring first and 16-4 when scoring in the first inning.
Bowles allowed the solo shot in the bottom of the second, one of only three hits in the game for Bethune-Cookman, but did not lose her composure. Bowles allowed just a fourth inning single after that, and Catalano came on in relief and did not allow a run to the Wildcats.
The Bulls tacked on three insurance runs in the fifth inning, two coming on the double by Richardson to extend the lead to 7-1 after five.
The six-run cushion proved to be enough as the Bulls knocked off the Wildcats to take the sweep of the double-header.
