Oliver Pramming had the crowning achievement for the Bulls against one of the best teams in the nation Sunday in Miami.
Pramming was the lone winner for the USF men's tennis team in a clay court test against No. 2 Virginia. The freshman from Denmark triumphed in 7-6 (3), 0-6, 7-5 victory over Santiago Villegas at the No. 8 singles position.
"He played very well," head coach Don Barr said. "He's learning to attack his weakness. The sharper he gets doing that he'll be on his way."
Yannick Yoshizawa and Guillermo De Vilchez both pushed their opponents to three sets in singles in USF's first match of the new year.
"Anytime you play a top team in the country it's going to be a tough match," Barr said. "It really showed we have to do some work, but we can be a pretty good team."
The Bulls continue their season Saturday at USC in Los Angeles when they'll kick off play against UNC-Wilmington. USF faces either UNLV or USC on Sunday.
