TAMPA - USF erased a 12-point deficit by going on a 22-3 run en route to a season sweep of Seton Hall on Wednesday night.

Jasmine Wynne scored 19 points, Kaneisha Saunders added 13 points and six assists and the Bulls defeated Seton Hall, 57-45, before a crowd of 585 at the USF Recreation Center.

“In the second half she (Wynne) let the game come to her and she attacked and went to the rim,“ said head coach Jose Fernandez.

With the win, the Bulls tied their wins total from last season and surpassed their league win total.

USF (12-9, 4-3) closed the first half on a 6-0 run to cut Seton Hall's lead to five points, 26-21.

The Bulls shot 8-of-10 from the free throw line and forced the Pirates to commit 14 turnovers to help keep the game close in the opening period.

Wynne and Shalethia Stringfield led all starters in the first half with five points apiece.

Wynne extended her scoring streak to 17 games with double figures with a huge second half.

Saunders gave the Bulls their first lead of the game with 8:42 remaining in the second half. 

“We came out at halftime and played better,” said Fernandez. “Teams find a way to win.”

USF shot 47.8 percent from the field in the second half and went 14-of-16 from the free throw line.

“I was pleased with how we shot from the free throw line, I thought we attacked and finished from the free throw line,” said Fernandez.

The Bulls defense held Seton Hall to 37.2 percent shooting from the field, forced 23 turnovers and finished with 16 steals in the game.

“Defense wins games and we were being positive,” said Wynne.

USF returns to action on 1 p.m. Saturday against the Huskies in Connecticut.
