TAMPA – The Bulls had several opportunities, but failed to capitalize on them on Saturday night.
Syracuse scored the lone goal of the match in the opening half on a goal delivered by Stefanos Stamoulacatos to Louis Clark to lead the Orange past USF.
“I give credit to Syracuse. They got the win,” said head coach George Kiefer.
Syracuse outshot USF 11-10 in the game and sophomore keeper Dallas Jaye got his second career start and added another three saves after picking up three against Mercer.
The Bulls had multiple opportunities in the second half, but the ball did not find the back of the net.
“The guys hit the post, the crossbar and sometimes it's hard to get goals,” said Kiefer.
USF (7-2-4, 1-0-3) will face Louisville on national television in its final regular season home game Wednesday 7 p.m. at Corbett Soccer Stadium.
“Louisville is a good team,” said Kiefer. “We look forward to the game.”
