TAMPA - Tuesday night's game against Clemson was the instant classic USF thought it could be heading into the road test.

Andrea Smith produced in overtime after her twin sister, Andrell, dominated in regulation to help the Bulls slip past the Tigers, 75-73, at Littlejohn Coliseum. Andrell Smith poured in a career-high 26 points after setting a new top career mark with six 3-pointers in USF's second straight win to open the season.

"I don't think we found her as much as we should have," USF head coach Jose Fernandez said.

USF started its battle with a tough ACC opponent fast in the first half, opening with four consecutive 3-pointers with three coming from Andrell Smith. The senior guard was up to 20 points at the break with the Bulls holding a 35-34 edge before the team had to endure a wild ride to overtime.

The second half featured 11 lead changes and eight ties with the final one coming after Andrell Smith sank a layup with 52 seconds remaining in regulation. Andrea Smith handled things in overtime by scoring five of USF's six points in the period and she finished with a total of 15 points.

Inga Orekhova chipped in with 11 points and Tahira Johnson posted six points against a Clemson team that would not go away.

"I don't think we played particularly well. We didn't guard and we didn't value the basketball," Fernandez said. "They have a lot of talent and they showed it."

USF has now won 14 of its past 15 overtime games and gets a week off from competition before hosting Bradley on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. in the Sun Dome.

"We just have to get back to Tampa and get back to work," Fernandez said.
