TAMPA - Austin Lueck went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in USF's 14-3 loss at No. 9 Florida State on Saturday afternoon in Tallahassee.

Heavy rain halted play in the eighth inning and both head coaches agreed to end the game in the bottom half of the frame. The series resumes Sunday with a doubleheader that starts at 11 a.m. back at Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium.

Starter Joey Lovecchio (1-1) took the loss after allowing eight earned runs on seven hits in two innings for USF (1-3).

FSU (5-0) scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth and got a 4-for-4 performance from designated hitter Marcus Davis, who drove in two runs and fell a triple shy of a cycle. The Seminoles had the bases loaded with two outs when the game ended.

Kyle Teaf got the scoring started for USF in the fifth with a sacrifice fly that drove in Levi Borders, who tripled to start the inning. Lueck capped off the Bulls' scoring in the sixth with a two-run shot over the wall in left field on a 3-2 pitch.

Tampa native Nik Alfonso continued his hot redshirt freshman season by going 2-for-2 with a walk. Alfonso is now 7-for-11 with three walks and six RBIs.
